Now, in a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin, parents can be ticketed if their child is a chronic bully.
We cannot teach a child not to <blank> by <blank>ing them.
We cannot teach a child not to bully by bullying them.
This punishment is an act of bullying and publicly shames the boy. The harm in this parent’s actions could easily go underground in the child and this shame the child feels now could come out later in something like a school shooting, exactly what this parent was trying to prevent.
We are a nation swimming in shame. We are learning more about this as a society, but it can’t come soon enough for me.
